The City of San Jose is furthering the development of a microgrid program to begin assessing, designing, procuring and installing new infrastructure at critical facilities to provide essential power generation (daily and during emergency response to ensure continued resiliency) in an environmentally sustainable approach to reduce greenhouse gas emissions as compared to traditional fossil fuel sources used by the local utility, and diesel and propane fuel used in backup generation equipment.
